Early Life

Tyrrell Hatton was born in October 1991 in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. He was raised by his parents, Jeff, and Karen. His father taught him the basic fundamental golf skills when he was very young. Regarding his education detail, he has earned a high school degree from the Great Marlow School.

As an amateur, he qualified for the 2010 Open Championship. In 2012, he joined the Challenge Tour and also appeared on the PGA EuroPro Tour. Hatton recorded his first professional victory at Woodcote Park Golf Cub. Then, he got his second professional victory at Caversham Heath. In the same season, he recorded a win at the Your Golf Travel Classic.

Hatton mainly appeared on the Challenge Tour for two years in 2012 and 2013. He showed his exceptional game at The Foshan Open, and the Kazakhstan in 2013. That same year, he competed on the 2013 Challenge Tour and finished 10th. Subsequently, after that, he qualified for the 2014 European Tour. Then, he appeared at the 2014 Joburg Open where he finished T-2.

In 2014, he competed at the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open and finished for fourth place. In October 2016, he secured his maiden win on the European Tour claiming the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. After winning the golf event, his ranking jumped to 35 from 53 in the Official World Golf Ranking. In 2017, he played at the British Masters. However, he couldn’t perform as expected in the tournament and finished T8.

Hatton has also garnered media attention for his on-course temperament. He was once told to grow up by his fellow English golfer, Gary Evans. A week later while defending his Alfred Dunhill Links Championship title, he replied to Evans saying Nobody’s perfect. Despite getting into some controversies, Hatton kept on focusing on his game and claimed the victory at the Italian Open. However, he suffered a wrist injury at the Masters after falling on the golf course.

In September 2018, he secured his place in the 2018 Ryder Cup for the European team. He was a part of the European team that defeated the U. S. team at Le Golf National. However, he couldn’t win his singles match against American golfer, Patrick Reed. After that, he played at the Turkish Airlines Open and claimed the title. He was able to win a six-man playoff to win the title.

Hatton recorded his maiden PGA Tour win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March 2020. Then, he claimed the victory at the BMW PGA Championship. With the win, he became the second golfer to win 3 Rolex Series events. His maiden PGA Tour victory also got him into the top 10 of the official world golf ranking for the very first time. Hatton then secured a win at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

In September 2021, Hatton competed in the 2021 Ryder Cup as a member of the European team. Unfortunately, the European team could not win over the U. S. team. Along with that, he also lost his singles match against American golfer, Justin Thomas. Hatton was believed to have been approached to join LIV Golf. While clarifying if he had joined LIV, he said as of right now, he is staying on the PGA Tour.

Tyrrell Hatton has been married to Emily Braisher since 2021. His wife runs a blog named Wife on Tour where she shares her thoughts, and experiences while traveling around with her bubby. Emily first created the website when she was not married to Hatton. Emily has also written blogs on the US Open, and the Masters in 2017. As of now, she doesn’t seem quite active on her blog because of her busy schedule with Hatton.

Hatton became engaged to Emily in December 2019. The pair exchanged wedding vows after two years of getting engaged. On their wedding day, Hatton arrived around half an hour late. Hatton still remembers the incident, and says it was funny as the day was not very smooth.
