Tate McRae was born in July 2003 in Alberta, Canada. Her father, Todd is of Scottish descent, and her mom, Tanja is of German descent. She along with her parents shifted to Oman due to her dad’s job. Tate spent three years in Oman. While staying there, her mom taught dance lessons.

Regarding her education, she studied at the American International School in Muscat. As she grew old, she developed an interest in dance. At age 6, she received recreational dance training.
