Early Life

Scottie Scheffler was born in June 1996 in Ridgewood, New Jersey. He was raised by his parents, Diane, and Scott, along with three siblings. Scottie grew up with three sisters, Callie, Sara, and Molly. He was six when his family moved to Dallas, Texas. Before that, he was living in Montvale, New Jersey.

Scheffler’s mom used to work at the law firm, Thompson & Knight. She was the chief operating officer of the law firm. While, his dad used to stay at home, and take care of his kids. Regarding his education, he studied at Highland Park High School. Then, he attended the University of Texas.

Scottie developed an interest in golf when he was three. He was then gifted a set of plastic clubs by his parents. As his family shifted to Dallas, he was trained under instructor, Randy Smith at the Royal Oaks Golf Club. At the youth level, he was able to win 75 times on the PGA junior circuit.

Scheffler was barely 5 feet in height when he entered high school. Later, he experienced a large growth and was measured over 6 feet tall. Nonetheless, he suffered back injuries due to rapid growth mainly during his sophomore year. When he was playing in high school, he won individual state titles for three years in a row from 2012 to 2014.

In 2014, Scottie was named the top-ranked junior golfer in the United States. Scheffler was only a 17-year-old amateur golfer when he made his PGA Tour debut at the HP Byron Nelson Championship. Scottie finished in a tie for 22nd place after finishing 4-under-par. After that, he played collegiate golf at Texas University and helped the team get victory in three Big 12 championships.

Scottie qualified for his first-ever U. S. Open championship in 2016. In the first round, he shot 69, but, missed the cut by just a stroke in the second round. After a year, he again qualified for the championship. At that time, Scottie was still an amateur when he cut the 2017 U. S. Open.

Scheffler got the victory at the WM Phoenix Open in February 2022. He won the PGA Tour title after scoring on the 3rd hole of a sudden-death playoff. After three weeks, he competed at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and secured his second PGA Tour title. Scottie continued his good form and got victory at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play. With the victory, he moved to World No. 1 rank in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Scheffler finished in fifth place while competing at The Sentry in Hawaii at the start of 2024. The World No. 1 is currently competing at a golf event, The American Express. He has been playing at The American Express since his rookie year. The golf event has been the turning point of his career. He made his debut at the event four years back and held the first-ever 54-lead of his career.

Scottie Scheffler has married his high school sweetheart, Meredith Scudder since 2020. He tied the knot with Meredith after being in four years of a long-distance relationship. Meredith has witnessed every step of Scottie’s rise to fame. Surprisingly, she has also caddied for him at one point in one of the golf events. She was by his side after he lifted The Players Championship title in March 2023.

Scottie’s better half, Meredith is a director of the nonprofit organization, Behind Every Door (BED). Through the organization, she helps and provides educational, sports, and creative programs for the youth mainly in underdeveloped neighborhoods in Dallas. The World’s Number One golfer often helps Meredith and volunteers for the nonprofit’s mission.
