Early Life

Sam Burns was born in July 1996 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was raised by his parents, Beth and Todd Burns. Regarding his education detail, he studied at Calvary Baptist Academy. Then, he attended Louisiana State University. During his sophomore season at Louisiana State, he claimed victory at four tournaments.

Burns qualified for the Barbasol Championship in 2017 and performed well at the event finishing T6. That same year, he began his professional journey and made his debut at the Sanderson Farms Championship. He finished T43 at the golf event. After a week, he competed at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. Then, he played at the Colombia Championship and finished T2.

Burns continued his good form and played with Tiger Woods as his partner at the Honda Classic. Following that, he got entry to the Valspar Championship and finished T12. In 2018, he earned his maiden professional victory at the Savannah Golf Championship. He played exceptionally well against Roberto Castro and won over him by one stroke.

Burns has been competing in the PGA Tour since the beginning of the 2018-19 season. In 2021, he competed at the Genesis Invitational and finished third behind Max Homa and Tony Finau. In May 2021, he grabbed his first PGA Tour win at the Valspar Championship. To win his maiden PGA Tour title, he defeated Keegan Bradley by three strokes.

Burns continued his amazing form and played at the AT&T Byron Nelson. He gave tough competition to K. H. Lee and finished as runner-up. In October 2021, he registered his second PGA Tour win at the Sanderson Farms Championship. After that, he defeated Davis Riley and got his second consecutive Valspar Championship title. In May 2022, he made a 38-foot birdie putt to claim the victory at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

Then, Sam won at Colonial Country Club and matched Nick Price for the largest comeback in the last round.  Thereafter, he qualified at the 2022 Presidents Cup playing for the U. S. team. Though, he lost 3 out of 5 matches at the event, and tied 2. His next win came at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play in March 2023.

Burns defeated Cameron Young to claim the title. After that, he was included as one of the six captains to play in the 2023 Ryder Cup. He eventually made his first appearance in the 2023 Ryder Cup. He appeared in the Ryder Cup for the U. S. team in September 2023. Unfortunately, the U. S. as well as he faced a defeat in his Sunday singles match.

Sam Burns has been married to his wife, Caroline Campbell since December 2019. They met first time at church. They were around five years old at their first meeting. Despite knowing each other for a long time, they didn’t share a real romantic connection until they attended college.

After dating for four years, Sam proposed to Caroline in April 2019. After putting a marriage proposal to Caroline, he talked to Georgia’s WJCL and said he always kind of knew that she was the one. Caroline’s father, and friends also helped him to propose to her. Caroline’s friends provided some help to choose the perfect ring that she would like. Likewise, her sister visited the store with him to select the official engagement ring.
