Early Life

Russell Henley was born in April 1989 in Macon, Georgia. He was raised by his parents, Chapin, and Salley. Regarding his education detail, he studied at the Stratford Academy and then attended the University of Georgia. As a college golfer, he received the 2010 Haskins Award.

As an amateur, Henry competed in two Nationwide Tour events. In 2011, he got victory at the Stadion Classic at UGA and became the second amateur to claim the victory on the tour. That same year, he played at the Palmer Cup, and the Walker Cup representing the United States.

In September 2011, Henley played his first professional golf game at the Scboba Golf Classic. After a year, he defeated Morgan Hoffmann, and Patrick Cantlay to claim victory at the Chiquita Classic. Then, he got his second title at the Winn-Dixie Jacksonville Open. In 2012, he graduated to the PGA Tour from the Webb.com Tour after finishing third on the money list.

In January 2013, he secured his first PGA Tour win at the Sony Open and became the first-ever PGA rookie to win in his debut. Henley also set a new record at the Sony Open by finishing at 256. His good performance at the Sony Open led him to an invitation to play at the PGA Championship and the Masters. Henley claimed his second PGA Tour win at the Honda Classic in March 2014. Henley competed at the Shell Houston Open in April 2017 and recorded a win at the event. He shot a final round 65 to win by 3 shots against runner-up Kang. However, he could not give his best in the final round and finished 13th.

In 2022, Henley secured a PGA Tour title at the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba. It was his first PGA Tour victory in five years. At the golf event, he recorded a victory by 4 shots against Brian Harman.

Then, he appeared at the 2023 Masters Tournament and finished fourth. It turned out to be his best finish in major golf events. Russell was in contention to record his fifth PGA Tour win at the Wyndham Championship in 2023. However, his journey was cut off by Lucas Glover who cruised to victory.

Personal Life

Russell Henley has been married to Teil Duncan since 2015. According to reports, the pair met first time at Teil’s sister’s wedding. Her sister was married to one of Russel’s childhood buddies. They dated for a few years and became engaged on the Pitt Street Bridge in 2014. A year later, on October 30, 2015, they tied the knot in South Carolina. Together, the couple share two kids, Ruth Teil, and Robert Russell.

Teii is a full-time painter. She also loves to write and has released a book titled The Color Teil: Life, Work and Inspiration. Teil is not much seen attending PGA Tour events supporting her husband. Though, she has been present at one of his PGA Tour wins, at the 2017 Shell Houston Open.
