Early Life

Patrick Cantalay was born in March 1992 in Long Beach, California. He was raised by his parents, Colleen and Steve Cantalaya. Patrick grew up with his three siblings Caroline, Nick, and Jack. Regarding his education, he studied at Servite High School.

Patrick Cantalay won the California State High School Championship as a senior. He continued to play golf as a freshman at UCLA and was able to secure four tournaments. In 2011, he was named the most outstanding college golfer and received the Haskins Award. Not only that, he was also named the GCAA National Freshman of the Year.

Cantalay was awarded the Mark H. McCormack Medal in the 2011 season. Subsequently, he received an invitation to the 2012 Open Championship. Then, he was named one of three amateurs who made it through to the 2011 U. S. Open. On June 24, 2011, he shot the lowest round in the history of the PGA Tour. The next week, he competed at the San Gabriel Country Club and won the Southern California Amateur.

Patrick became world No. 1 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking in March 2011. He stayed as No. 1 for 54 consecutive weeks. Patrick turned professional in June 2012 after he forfeited his final two years of college. Patrick received his first professional paycheck after competing at AT&T National.

In 2013, he got his first professional victory at the Colombia Championship. Then, he competed in the Web.com Tour Finals and earned his PGA Tour card for 2014. Cantalay secured his maiden PGA Tour win at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in November 2017. The following year, he narrowly defended his title but lost to Bryson DeChambeau by one stroke. Patrick then competed at the PGA Championship and finished tied for 3rd place. After two weeks, he played at the Memorial Tournament and won.

In January 2021, he played at The American Express where Kim-Si-woo edged him out. Then, he again competed at the Memorial Tournament and successfully defended his title. Two months later, he won the BMW Championship over Bryson DeChambeau. In September 2021, he won the Tour Championship in Atlanta.

Cantalay appeared at the BMW Championship in August 2022 and was able to defend his title. That same year, he secured his place at the 2022 Presidents Cup for the U. S. team. He appeared in four matches at the golf event, and out of four games, he lost only one. In September 2023, he competed in the Ryder Cup for the U. S. team. In a Sunday singles match, he went 2-2-0. However, the U. S. team lost to the European team with 16.5-11.5.

Patrick Cantalay is married to pharmacist Nikki Guidish. The pair tied the knot the day after the 2023 Ryder Cup, which was held on September 29, 2023. Patrick and Nikki went public with their relationship at the Memorial Tournament in 2021. They became engaged in September 2022 when they were enjoying a trip to Napa, California. Before working as a pharmacist, Nikki worked as a fitness model. She has been featured on the cover of South Tampa Magazine. Moreover, she has competed in many bodybuilding competitions from 2014 to 2016.
