Early Life

Nick Taylor was born in April 1988 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was raised by his parents, Darlene and Jay Taylor. Nick was three when his family shifted to Abbotsford, British Columbia. When he reached 10, he started playing golf at the Ledgeview Golf and Country Club.

Regarding his education detail, he studied at Yale Secondary School. While playing for his school team, he along with his team won many provincial championships. After completing high school, he received a golf scholarship to study at the University of Washington.

In 2007, Nick appeared at the Canadian Amateur Championship as an amateur and successfully won the title. Then, he competed at the Olympic Club. He reached the quarter-finals and was defeated by champion, Colt Knost.

In 2008, Taylor secured his place to compete at the U. S. Open However, he couldn’t go further after missing the cut by 3 strokes. That same year, he competed at the RBC Canadian Open and finished in 9th place.

In 2010, he appeared at the 2010 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship. It was his final year as an amateur. Along with his Washington Hustyk’s team, he finished in 4th place. Then, he played at the Canadian Amateur where he finished tied for 33.

Taylor began his professional journey in late 2010 by competing at the October Russell Brewing VGT Tour Championship. He appeared on the PGA Tour Canada in 2011 and played at the event until 2013. Nick earned his PGA Tour card for the 2015 season after finishing in 23rd place in the Web.com Tour Finals.

Nick started the 2014-15 season by appearing at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions. There, he secured a tie for 29th place. He got his maiden PGA Tour win at the Sanderson Farms Championship in November 2014. Following that, he was qualified to compete in the 2015 PGA Championship. However, he could not show his best form at the event and finished tied for 68 place.

Nick had his first top-10 finish in the 2016-17 season when he appeared at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Soon after, he had his second top-10 finish at the Wells Fargo Championship. Then, he competed at the AT&T Byron Nelson where he tied for 9th. Taylor got his first full-strength PGA Tour win at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Taylor secured his place for his first Masters Tournament after winning AT&T. However, he could not compete in his first Masters due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Then, he appeared at the 2020 PGA Championship which was his first major appearance since 2015. However, he could not cut into the two rounds.

Nick made his Masters Tournament debut in the 2020-21 season. He finished tied for 29th place in the Masters Tournament. Then, he competed at the Sony Open and finished tied 11. Taylor had the best finish of the 2021-22 season at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Ann. He began the 2022-23 season competing at the opening Fortinet Championship where he tied for 6th place.

Taylor got his third career tournament win at the June RBC Canadian Open. After winning the event, he became the first golfer from Canada to get a victory at their national open. He had a slow start at the beginning of the 2024 season. However, he got his fourth career win at the WM Phoenix Open defeating Charley Hoffman.

Personal Life

Nick Taylor has been married to Andie Taylor since May 2014. The pair met first time at the airport when Nick won his debut PGA Tour title. At that time, Andie was working at Abbotsford Regional Hospital as a full-time social worker. Together, the pair shares a seven-month-old son, Charlie. Taylor is often seen self-isolating from PGA Tour events to spend quality time with his wife and son.
