Early Life

Lucas Glover was born in November 1979 in Greenville, South Carolina. He was raised by his parents, Hershey Hendley and Ron Musselman. Glover was only 2 years old when his parents separated. His dad was a major league baseball player. His dad couldn’t provide child support after his baseball career ended in 1985. Musselman also lost parental rights and was not allowed to see Lucas until he reached 18.

After the official separation of his parents, his mom married Jim Glover whom he considers his true father. Glover was introduced to golf when he was merely 3. Dick Hendley, his grandfather, then guided him. Glover studied at Wade Hampton High School where he was 3-time High School All-American. Following high school, he attended Clemson University.

Lucas Glover began his professional golf career after graduating from Clemson University in 2001. He started with the Nationwide Tour recording 2 top-10 finishes. In his rookie season, he finished in 67th place on the money list and was eventually selected to PGA Tour qualifying school.

Glover recorded his first Nationwide Tour victory at the Gila River Classic in 2003. With the victory, he finished 17th on the money list, which helped him to earn his PGA Tour card for the 2004-05 season. He recorded 2 top-10 finishes in the 2004 season.

Lucas got his maiden PGA Tour win at the FUNAI Classic in 2005. After winning his first PGA Tour title, he couldn’t win a single event in 2006 despite playing well on tour. That same year, he made his first cut in his major tour at the PGA Championship.

Glover continued his good form in 2007 and recorded 3 top-10 finishes. However, he was not able to maintain the same form in 2008. After an unsatisfying performance in 2008, he regained his confidence and came up with his best form in 2009. He started off the season with top 3 finishes at the Buick Invitational, and the Quail Hollow Championship.

Glover surprised everyone with a victory at the U. S. Open in 2009. He was then ranked 71st  and emerged as a surprise winner. Before that, he had never cut his past appearances at the U. S. Open.

After the victory, he moved up to 18th in the Official World Golf Rankings. Along with that, he became the first native from South Carolina, and the first Clemson graduate to secure a win at a major professional golf event.

Glover then competed at the Travelers Championship and the AT&T National. His good finish at both events helped him to enter the top 10 money list. Then, he appeared at the PGA Championship where he finished fifth. Glover’s next win came at the PGA Grand Slam of Golf in October 2009. He won the title over Angel Cabrera.

In May 2011, he won his first official victory since the 2009 U. S. Open at the Wells Fargo Championship. However, after the event, he suffered a knee injury, and due to that, he was limited to 16 events in 2012. Glover went through bad days until the 2014-15 season when he had to regain his Tour card. In 2016, he was able to keep his PGA Tour card after finishing 106 in the FedEx Cup.

Glover’s next PGA Tour win came after 10 years at the John Deere Classic in July 2021. After two years, he recorded his next PGA Tour victory at the Wyndham Championship. Following the victory, he secured a place in the FedExCup Playoffs. After a week, he competed at the Fed Ex St. Jude Championship and registered another victory.

Personal Life

Lucas Glover is married to Krista with whom he shares two kids. In 2018, he and his wife had endured the most difficult years of their marriage lives. As per reports, Krista got into a fight with Lucas after he had a poor performance at the 2018 Players Championship.

Krista was very upset with Lucas and spent the whole day drinking. After they arrived at their rental house on Marsh Hawk Place, she yelled at him and also called him a loser. Krista later attacked Lucas’ mom when she tried to stop Krista. Lucas’ mom had many lacerations on her arms after Krista violently attacked her.

Krista was eventually charged and arrested for domestic violence. After a few months, Lucas shared via a public statement that Krista is not on probation and she also doesn’t need to proceed with mental health evaluation and substance abuse. Lucas also changed his words and said Krista never hit him.
