Early Life

Harris English was born in July 1989 in Valdosta, Georgia. He was raised by his parents, Ben and Martha English. Harris completed his high school graduation from The Baylor School. While playing for high school, he won Tennesse team state titles four times and also got victory at Tennessee individual state in 2005. Harris graduated from Baylor with a business degree in 2011.

Harris English appeared as an amateur in two nationwide tour events. First, he competed in the Stadion Athens Classic and then played in the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Invitational. Harris won at Chidren’s Hospital and became the third amateur to secure a win on the Tour.

Harris turned professional after competing at the Walker Cup in 2011. He appeared on his first professional tour at the Soboba Golf Classic. After that, he appeared on his second professional golf tour at the WNB Golf Classic. He nearly got his maiden professional victory, but, was defeated by Danny Lee in the final round. Then, he finished in a tie for 13th place at the Qualifying Tournament. Soon after that, he earned his 2012 PGA Tour card.

Harris had 3 top 10 finishes as a rookie in 2012. He kept his PGA Tour card by earning over $1.18 million. His maiden PGA Tour victory came at the FedEx St. Jude Classic in 2013. Then, he secured his second win at the OHL Classic. English then appeared at the Farmers Insurance Open in February 2015. He reached the four-man sudden-death playoff along with J. B. Homes. However, he could not make it to the next round as he made only par-five 18th hole.

English registered his third PGA Tour win at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in January 2021. He claimed the victory, defeating Joaquin Niermann. Following that, he competed at the Travelers Championship. He secured the victory at the event making a birdie on the 8th playoff hole over Kramer Hickock. Surprisingly, it turned out to be the second-longest playoff in the history of the PGA Tour.

Harris was a part of the 2021 Ryder Cup where he played on the U. S. team. He lost in his Sunday singles over Lee Westwood. On the other hand, the U. S. team got victory over the European team with a score of 19-9. After that, he had one of his best performances at the World Wide Technology Championship.

English took a break for a certain time due to hip surgery in 2022. He had surgery on his right hip to repair a torn labrum in early 2022. After a lengthy recovery process, he came back to the PGA Tour in June competing at the Memorial. However, he could not perform well and didn’t record a single top-10 finish for the rest of the season.

Harris came back in the form at the Charles Schwab Challenge. He along with Harry Hall topped the leaderboard at the midpoint of the tournament. He certainly faced some challenges during the tournament. While talking to the news outlet, he said it was tough as the wind was swirling which created difficulty, especially in the afternoon.

Harris English is married to Helen Marie Bowers, a University of Georgia graduate. The pair tied the knot in 2017. As per reports, their wedding was held in Georgia at Ocean Forest Golf Club. The couple doesn’t share any kids yet. They both studied at the University of Georgia, where Harris was on the University’s golf team. The pair is currently living blissful moments with each other in Sea Island, Georgia.
