Collin Morikawa was born in February 1997 in Los Angeles, California. He was raised by his parents, Debbie and Blaine. Collin’s parents are originally from Japan and China. Regarding his education detail, he attended the University of California, Berkeley, and graduated in 2019.

Collin Morikawa has a fantastic win record in his collegiate career. He claimed victory at the Trans-Mississippi Amateur, the Western Junior, the Northeast Amateur, and the Sunnehanna Amateur. He competed in the Arnold Palmer Cup team for two years in 2017 and 2018. Morikawa claimed the victory in the Walker Cup team in 2017. The following year, he won the Eisenhower Trophy team.
Due to his exceptional performance, he remained as World No. 1 amateur golfer for three weeks in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. Collin turned professional in 2019 and played his first professional game at the 2019 RBC Canadian Open. Then, he competed at the 3M Open and tied for second place. Morikawa got his PGA Tour membership card for the 2020 season after tying for fourth place at the John Deere Classic.
Collin recorded his maiden PGA Tour win at the Barracuda Championship. In June 2020, he appeared at the Charles Schwab Challenge and tied for the lead. It was the first PGA Tour that he played following a 3-month hiatus due to COVID-19. That same month, he missed his cut at the Travelers Championship and recorded 22 consecutive cuts. In July 2020, he registered his second PGA Tour victory at the Workday Charity Open.
Thereafter, he appeared in the 2020 PGA Championship, and registered his second major championship start. Following the victory, he became the third youngest golf player to register a win at the PGA Championship. He continued his good form in 2021 and claimed victory at the 2021 WGC-Workday Championship. Subsequently, after that, he registered a win at the 2021 Open Championship.
After winning the Open Championship, Morikawa became the first golfer to register two major wins in eight or fewer starts since Bobby Jones. Along with that, he also became the first golfer to secure two different titles in his debut appearance. In August 2021, he appeared at the Olympic Games and finished in a tie for third place.
A year later, Collin played at the Genesis Invitational and finished tied-second just 2 shots behind winner Joaquin Niermann. In February 2023, he competed at the Farmers Insurance Open, and finished solo third at the golf event. Then, in July 2023, he appeared at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and tied for the lead after 72 holes. In October 2023, he played at the Zozo Championship and won the golf event.

Collin Morikawa has been married to Katherine Zhu since November 2022. He first met Katherine when she was studying at Pepperdine University in Malibu. They dated for four years, and became engaged in November 2021. While giving an interview in 2022, Collin shared how he found proposing to her harder than playing golf. He said he was super nervous while proposing to Zhu.
The couple exchanged wedding vows at Hotel Bel-Air in November 2022. They tied the knot around 100 close friends and family. Zhu is always seen supporting Morikawa during his game. She shared the pictures with Morikawa holding the 2020 PGA Championship trophy on Instagram where she wrote, he continues to amaze her every single day.
