Early Life

Cameron Young was born in May 1997 in Scarborough, New York. He was raised by his parents, Barbara and David. His dad played golf part-time, and has served at the Sleepy Hollow Country Club as the director of golf. Similarly, his mom is also huge fan of golf. Regarding his education detail, he studied at Fordham Preparatory School. Later, she enrolled at Wake Forest University, and graduated in Economics in 2019.

As a junior, he claimed victory at the AJGA Polo Golf Junior Classic in 2014. He also represented U. S. in the Junior Golf World Cup, and the Junior Ryder Cup. When he was freshman at Wake Forest, he won individual title at two events, the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational, and the U. S. Collegiate Championship.

Cameron has also competed on the US Amateur where Jon Rahm knocked him out in the second round. That same year, he won the Ike Stroke Play Championship, and became the youngest golfer to win the title. In 2016, he gave his best to defend the title. The following year, he defeated Chris DeForest to win the New York State Open. After that, he claimed victory at the Westchester Open in 2018.

When he started playing as a senior at Wake Forest, he got victory at three tournaments. He played amazingly well to become the lead medalist in the Stitch Intercollegiate. In late July 2020, he qualified for the Pinnacle Bank Championship. At the golf event, he tied for 11th which helped him to get entry in the next event.

After that, he competed at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship, and tied second. He subsequently registered his name in the 2020-21 season as a temporary member. Cameron recorded back-to-back win in May 2021, and earned a PGA Tour card after finishing at top 20 on the regular season points.

In 2022, Cameron competed at the Genesis Invitational, and tied for second. After that, he moved up to top 100 in the Official World Golf Ranking. He continued his good game, and became first runner up at the 2022 PGA Championship. Thereafter, he appeared in the 2022 Open Championship and reached to the final. At the golf event, he lost to Cameron Smith by one stroke.

Cameron was included in the U. S. team to compete in the 2022 Presidents Cup. He played four matches in the event, winning one, losing two, and tying one. After competing in the Presidents Cup, he received the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year Award receiving 94% of the vote. In 2023, he reached to the final at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play. But he was defeated by Sam Burns in the last round.

Personal Life

Cameron Young marries Kelsey Dalition in 2020. The golfer confirmed he was 23 when he tied knot with Dalition. His caddie, Scott McKean became his best man in the wedding. Together, the couple shares a son, Henry. While talking to news outlet, the golfer said that he forgets about golf a bit when he is with his son.

Cameron’s better half is often seen showing his support to him during his tournaments. She even brings her son along to celebrate winning moment on the golf course.
