Early Life

Brooks Koepka was born in May 1990 in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was raised by his parents, Denise Jakows, and Bob Koepka. Brooks grew up with his younger brother, Chase Koepka, who is also a professional golfer. His dad used to play baseball at the West Virginia Wesleyan College.

Brooks’ father was the first person who taught him and his brother the basics of golf. The golfer doesn’t even hesitate to thank his dad for everything. In fact. Brooks admitted that he owes everything to his dad. For his high school, he studied at Cardinal Newman High School. Then he attended Florida State University.

In 2012, Brooks secured a place at the U. S. Open as an amateur. Before that, he won in three events playing for Florida State University’s team. Koepka began his professional journey in the summer of 2012. He secured his maiden victory at the Challenge de Catalunya in September. Then, he appeared at the 2013 Montecchia Golf Open and secured the title.

Koepka registered his third professional win at the Fred Olsen Challenge de Espana. To get the title, he made the tournament record, 260. His winning streak continued at the Scottish Hydro Challenge. After winning three events, he secured his European Tour card for the 2013 and 204 season. Along with that, he also made a place at the 2013 Open Championship. Brooks appeared in his first golf event as a European Tour member at the Scottish Open, where he finished T12.

In 2014, he appeared in a few golf events through open qualifying and on sponsor’s exemptions. Koepka got his maiden PGA Tour card for the 2014 and 2015 season after finishing fourth at the U. S. Open. Then, he received a nomination for the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year award after finishing 15 at the PGA Championship.

At the same time, he continued playing on the European Tour. In 2014, he secured a victory at the Turkish Airlines Open. That same year, he was named Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year. Brooks recorded his maiden PGA Tour win at the Waste Management Phoenix Open in February 2015.

After securing the maiden PGA Tour event, he entered the top 20 rank in the Official World Golf Ranking. At the end of the 2015 season, he decided to leave his European Tour membership. Brooks continued to appear in the PGA Tour events, and eventually got victory at the Dunlop Phoenix Tournament in November 2016.

Koepka claimed his first major championship title at the U. S. Open in 2017. After the 2017 season, he went through wrist surgery. Even though he was hoping to play at the 2018 Masters tournament, he could not make it as he was not fully fit. Brooks made his comeback to defend his U. S. Open title. He was able to win the title again and became the first golfer to claim consecutive U. S. Open titles since Curtis Strange in 1989.

In October 2018, he secured a victory at the CJ Cup and became the World No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking. After that, he appeared at the 2019 PGA Championship and won the golf event. With the victory, he joined Tiger Woods to successfully defend the Championship title.

Koepka was about to compete at the 2019 Presidents Cup but had to withdraw due to a knee injury. After that, he withdrew from the FedEx Cup playoffs due to hip and knee pains. In February 2021, he appeared at the Waste Management Phoenix Open and secured the victory.

Brooks joined the LIV Golf Invitational Series in June 2022 and played his first game in Portland. Subsequently, after that, he was suspended by the PGA Tour for appearing in the LIV Golf series. He won his first LIV Golf event at the LIV GOlf Invitational Jeddah in October 2022. Though, in May, he appeared at the 2023 PGA Championship, and got his fifth major title.

Brooks Koepka has been married to actress, Jena Sims since June 2022. Previously, he was in a relationship with Becky Edwards. Brooks and Jena welcomed their son, Crew Sims Koepka on July 27, 2023. Before giving birth to their son, the pair announced their pregnancy via Instagram on Brooks’ 33 birthday in May 2023. After two weeks, the couple disclosed the gender of their baby.
