As an amateur, he won at the 2005 NCAA Preview. The following year, he won the 2006 Isleworth Invitational. Harman also received the yearly award three times for the highest Grade Point Average. In 2003, he secured a win at the U. S. Junior Amateur. Then, he won the 2005 Players Amateur and the 2007 Porter Cup.

Harman turned professional in 2009 and got his first professional win at the Manor Classic. In 2010, he competed in three Nationwide Tour events. He showed his best form at the Stadion Athens Classic finishing at T-18th. Then, he got a chance to compete at the 2012 Players Championship when D. A. Points took his name back before his tee time.
