Early Life

Big Scarr was born in April 2000 in Memphis, Tennessee. He grew up with eight siblings in the Magnolia community. Scarr was raised by his grandmother who died when he was just 13 years old. Scarr took the stage name Big Scarr after he had scars on his face due to a car accident at the age of 16.

Big Scarr never thought of initiating a career in rap music. His interest in rap music started after being inspired by fellow rapper Baby K, who was also his friend. Scarr came up with his first song, Make a Play in 2019. He subsequently dropped the music video of the song on YouTube.

Scarr had spent $20 to record his first track. He also invested $200 to shoot the music video of the song. Then, in 2020, he was signed to Gucci Mane’s record label, 1017 Records. After he was signed to 1017, he dropped his hit track, SolcyBoyz. The song also features rapper Foogiano and his cousin, Pooh Shiesty. Following the track’s success, he dropped two installments in the series, which were titled SolcyBoyz 2, and SolcyBoyz 3. The rapper and record producer, Gucci Mane was also featured on the third installment.

Scarr released his first mixtape titled Big Grim Reaper on April 16, 2021. The album became a big hit, peaking a top 30 spot on the Billboard 200. Scarr’s debut mixtape was also sold 22,000 copies in just a week. The hit mixtape had the appearance of popular rappers such as Gucci Mane, Foogiano, Gucci Mane, Enchanting, Tay Keith, and Baby K.

In February 2022, Scarr came up with the deluxe version of his first mixtape which was titled Big Grim Reaper: The Return. The deluxe version featured rappers, Gucci Mane, Offset, and Queez Ruthless. In June 2022, Scarr performed his freestyle in the 2022 XXL Freshman class. Then at the end of 2022, he was announced as a special guest on Key Glock’s Glockoma Tour.

Big Scarr has a self-titled YouTube channel which has 90 videos and 591k subscribers. Scarr uploaded his first music video titled Make A Play on December 18, 2019. The music video has garnered over 17 million views.

Scarr’s most viewed music videos on YouTube include Lit Hoe, SolcyBoyz, Trap Fashion, Endzone, Frozone, SolcyBoyz 2, and I WOuld Keep Goin. Almost all his songs and music videos have earned over 1 million views.

Personal Life

Big Scarr died from an accidental prescription drug overdose in December 2022. He was reportedly staying at his girlfriend’s place when the rapper died of an accidental drug overdose. Scarr’s uncle, Arthur told to news outlet that he was with his girlfriend in his house in Memphis when he lost his life. His uncle claimed that he didn’t know anything about his nephew using medications.

Scarr has kept his dating life secret until he left this world. However, his girlfriend came forward, lashing the rapper’s family and friends for recording a music video at his funeral. She also shared a strongly-worded message to Scarr’s loved ones on Instagram on January 9, criticising the rapper’s family and friends for their embarrassing and disgusting behavior.

Scarr’s fellow collaborator, and brother, Quezz Ruthless was captured recording a music video at the rapper’s funeral. Following Scarr’s death, his siblings accused record producer, Gucci Mane of making false promises to cover the funeral costs. Quezz also called out Gucci for allegedly ghosting the rapper’s family. Quezz further claimed to Mane that he asked the late rapper’s family to return Scarr’s 1017 chains.

However, later Gucci’s wife, Keyshia came forward defending her husband. She shared two receipts from Funeral Home, N. J. Ford & Sons, totaling $20,000. After sharing the two receipts, Keyshia asked everyone to leave her husband alone. She further claimed that Gucci has directly paid to the funeral home rather than paying to Scarr’s family. Later, Scarr’s father also defended Gucci by sharing a receipt of $10,000.
